Physiotherapy for Improved Mobility and Fitness
ThreeSpires Physiotherapy is proud to offer physiotherapy and rehabilitation at home designed especially to improve mobility and fitness in people who find they have suffered a loss of ability to walk or function. There are many reasons for a loss of mobility or fitness, for example a loss of balance, loss of confidence, a recent illness or operation, all of which we can help address and get you back on the road to your previous fitness levels.
We are based in Lichfield and offer home visit physiotherapy throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands including areas such as Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Rugeley and Cannock for anyone wanting physiotherapy to increase their strength, fitness and improve their mobility. If you or a family member has recently suffered a decline in ability to move, walk or mobilise then home visit physiotherapy can assist you in getting back on your feet.
How can ThreeSpires Physiotherapy help me with my mobility and fitness?
A physio will come to your home at a time and day of your choosing – avoiding the need to take leave the house and go to a clinic which can be extremely difficult and tiring for many people with reduced mobility.
Due to the complexity of the reasons for losses in mobility and fitness, the lengthy assessment process and the need for ongoing re-assessment as patients improve; treatment sessions are 1 hour for all sessions including follow ups. It is our experience that this extended period of time allows for a much greater benefit and response to therapy and is especially beneficial for older patients who may fatigue quickly and may need longer rest periods in sessions.
A full subjective assessment (discussion with your physio) will be conducted of your condition, your current and previous mobility and fitness levels and your goals for the future. Your physio will also look at your lifestyle, past medical history, symptoms, aggravating factors, nature of the condition and any risk factors in order to gain a full picture and how best to proceed
A comprehensive physical examination of your posture, strength, range of movement, gait and bio-mechanics will then take place. This will enable us to identify the best rehabilitation strategies and develop an effective treatment plan to alleviate any pain, improve mobility and assist you in returning to full fitness.
Treatment options during the session may include, balance work, strengthening exercises, falls prevention, mobilising practice, joint mobilisation, gait re-education, deep tissue massage, stretching, trigger point release, myofascial release techniques, soft tissue release, proprioceptive neuro-muscular facilitation. The appropriate combination of treatment options will be chosen by your therapist and tailored to provide maximum improvement in terms of strength, range of motion, mobility, fitness and reduction in any pain.
Self management is a key part of improving both mobility and fitness and your physio will provide you with an individualised rehabilitation program that is tailored to meet your requirements and goals whatever they may be. Elements included in this program will be: a graded strengthening and exercise program, stretching techniques, balance exercises, postural advice, core strengthening exercises and strategies to re-adapt to normal daily life.
