Why home visit physiotherapy?
Home visit physiotherapy offers an array of benefits as opposed to visiting a traditional physiotherapy clinic, Firstly there is no need to find additional time in your day or week to visit a clinic - instead our chartered physiotherapists will do that for you and come out to you at home in Aldridge. Next, home visit physiotherapy offers a clear clinical benefit - that of being assessed and treated at home which enables the physiotherapist to assess how your home environment affects you - this is vital if you have a neurological condition or have had a joint replacement recently. Finally, some patients find leaving the house to be a real challenge and for these people home visit physiotherapy makes rehabilitation easier and more practical.
What will it involve?
After booking an appointment, one of our mobile physiotherapists will come out to you at home in Aldridge. This first session is an assessment and begins with a discussion with your physiotherapist. This allows our physiotherapist to work out what your main issue is, have a good idea of your goals and also to review past medical history. Experience of working with patients with their recovery has shown that this part is essential as it allows you the time to detail what you are looking for and also allows the physiotherapist to prepare a plan of how they may be able to assist.
A thorough physical assessment then takes place, this can cover many factors including (but not limited to) - balance, strength, co-ordination, movement, alignment and gait. As the assessment takes place at your home in Aldridge, the physio will also take into account how your home environment is affecting things. For example if you have had any falls they will look to see if there are any obvious trip hazards. Here your physiotherapist is looking to identify dysfunctions and any underlying causes. This is put together with the information gleaned from the earlier section to prepare a diagnosis and treatment plan.
Any diagnosis will be thoroughly explained and your physiotherapist will take you through the logic and reasoning associated with that diagnosis. Our experience has clearly shown us that the best outcomes are achieved with patients when they have a clear understanding of their problem and what they can do to help themselves.
The treatment part will then begin, depending upon your problems this may involve spinal manipulation and soft tissue massage (if you have back pain) or it may primarily involve designing a suitable program of exercises for your rehab if for example you have lost mobility following a stay in hospital. Once the session has finished any follow up sessions at your home in Aldridge will be booked.
