Some of the patients that our physiotherapists see have difficulty walking and mobilising making visiting a clinic extremely tiring if not impossible. In these cases our home visit physiotherapy service is the ideal option as it eliminates the problems of getting to a clinic. Patients can have multiple causes for their difficulty in mobilising: sometimes they will have undergone a surgical procedure (e.g. a knee replacement) or they may have been admitted to hospital and are currently feeling weaker and lacking in confidence. Physiotherapy in the home environment delivers a number of benefits for these patients by removing the necessity of traveling to a clinic and also allows rehabilitation to happen earlier.

What will it involve?

After making an appointment, a physiotherapist will come to your home at the day and time of your choosing. They will come equipped with a plinth (massage/assessment table) and a bag with any other equipment they need.

A full verbal history will be taken to get a good picture of your situation followed by a physical examination. The physiotherapist will then explain what the problem is and how this can be best treated. Treatment will then take place followed by an explanation of self-management strategies and exercises to do. Your chartered physiotherapist will book any follow up treatments with you and email (or post if you prefer) a rehabilitation and exercise plan to you.
